Pixel Park

//Concept Design

Our concept for the landscape design of 'Pixel Park' starts with laying a 3x3m grid on the site, fading it out towards the edges of the site, and then locating the amphitheatre seating areas and buildings on the grid.

The idea for our observation tower came from a simple square grid that's extruded at different heights, and each of these extrusions is topped by a green viewing platform, looking at San Jose from different heights and perspectives, with more and more of the city revealed as you journey upwards.

These cascading floating gardens are connected together via a lift and a series of stairs. Thus, the whole timber structure acts as a tree, with the lift shaft as its trunk and the platforms as its branches.

The lift shaft is encased with LED screens and the whole structure is wrapped in grided layers of thin luminescent metal wires to enclose the tower while allowing for minimal visual obstruction.
